CG Godfrey are excited to be showcasing its Vacuum Sewerage System – VacuflowTM  at the Contamination and Geotech Expo on 14 and 15 September 2022 at the NEC in Birmingham.

Our long term experience in waste water drainage and pipelines for regional water companies led us to invest in bringing vacuum sewer technology to the UK through our partnership with Qua-Vac; a Dutch engineering company who developed the VacuflowTM  system for delivery through CG Godfrey as the sole agent for the UK.

VacuflowTM is an innovation to provide sustainable and economically beneficial solution for the collection of sewage waste from rural communities and new developments in outlining areas where direct connection to the main sewage network is not possible. The system works by collecting sewage under gravity to a collection chamber; where the air and sewage are drained into the vacuum network to be transported to a vacuum station for onward processing. To monitor and maintain effective sewage collection and transfer; CG Godfrey provides a VaculinkTM  that provides asset owners to with real-time data via web-enabled software and alert functions for email and SMS notifications.

A successful example of VacuflowTM providing first-time sewerage connections was on a Severn Trent Water scheme in Zouch (Leicestershire) delivered in conjunction with nmcn plc in 2020. A resident-led application for first time sewerage connection to the village under Section 101a of the Water Industry Act 1991 identified a need to connect 27 properties. An engineering constraint due to crossings of the River Soar and flooding risk was overcome by CG Godfrey and Qua-Vac through a 1.3km of vacuum sewer capable of meeting the project’s hydraulic constraints. The project was Highly Commended in the Institution of Civil Engineers East Midlands Merit Awards 2020.

CG Godfrey provides installation and maintenance services for VacuflowTM for a number of the wastewater utilitycompanies including Thames Water and Severn Trent Water; demonstrating the application and specification of the system for vacuum sewer applications.

Our live demonstration of the vacuum sewerage system will be on our stand (CT-F40) at the Expo, beside the Land Remediation & Geotech Theatre; where our technical staff will explain how the VacuflowTM system works.
